The Nation Municipality is developing a Parks and Recreation Master Plan to examine the recreation infrastructure and existing services and to provide a clear and concise strategic plan with achievable goals for the next 15 years. During the May 27, 2019 council meeting, the Parks and Recreation Master Plan contract was awarded to the consultant group PRC Solutions. The contract price was $65,415.70 (taxes included).

The goal is to have the recreation plan completed and presented to council in December.

PRC Solutions will work closely with the municipality on the development of the Master Plan and will organize focus groups, workshops and surveys to gather ideas, experiences, and any information related to parks, culture and recreation in The Nation.

Two workshops will be held during the month of August. One will take place on August 20th, 2019 at the St‐Isidore Community Centre from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. and one will happen on August 21st, 2019 at the St‐Albert Community Centre from 6:30 p.m. to 9 p.m. The registration period to attend these workshops will open soon. People will be able to register online, by phone or by email.

There will be an online and telephone survey during the month of August in order to get more public input.

Another set of public consultations/ workshops will be held once the  preliminary draft of the plan is ready; it is hoped that this plan will be ready in October 2019.

There will be many ways for the community to get involved. All opportunities for engagement will be shared with the community via The Nation Municipality’s Facebook page and website (https://nationmun.ca/en/resident‐services/recreation/parks‐and‐recreation‐master‐plan/).

The Nation Municipality encourages residents to visit the municipality’s website at www.nationmun.ca to stay informed and up‐to‐date with the progress of this project.
