The Glengarry Tartans Alexandria, Easy Modern Square Dancing Club hosted an Autumn Leaves and The Canadian Tartan event which was attended by 75 dancers and guests from Cornwall, Orleans, Kemptville, Montreal and Alexandria.

The event held at the Glengarry Sports Palace in Alexandria featured The Vankleek Hill Old Tyme Fiddlers teaming up with the Easy Modern Square Dancing Group for a fun-filled afternoon.

The Virginia Reel, called by Francois Desmarais and accompanied by the fiddlers, was a highlight and guests thoroughly enjoyed dancing to a live band.

The dance theme – The Canadian Tartan – the maple leaf  was designed in 1964 by David Weiser to commemorate the new Canadian flag and declared an official national emblem of Canada in 2011.
The four colours reflect the colours of the maple leaf as it changes through the seasons—green in the spring, gold in the early autumn, red at the first frost, and brown after falling.

The Glengarry Tartans invite you to “A Tartan Christmas” to be held on December 16.
