The Parks and Recreation Department applied to the Ontario Sports and Recreation Fund last fall and are pleased to announce that we are the recipients of a grant that has allowed us the funds to continue our Be more ACTIVE program over the next 2 years.
As a result Director, Lisa Burroughs has recruited Kerri Albright as the Recreation Assistant to spearhead the program. The Be more ACTIVE program is not just about the fitness classes, it is also an initiative to highlight the opportunities our businesses, our facilities, our parks, beach and trails have to offer the families of Champlain Township. Many of these amenities will be highlighted throughout our program on Facebook.
The Be more ACTIVE program was launched last year and was very well received by our community. We have received great feedback and have adjusted our program based on your thoughts. This year we are offering a range of high, medium and low-intensity classes that will appeal to all. We have heard your voices and NEW this session we are encouraging parents to bring their children to participate or watch the class. This will enable busy families to workout, get healthy and Be more ACTIVE together.
Classes will be offered at the Vankleek Hill Community Centre and at the L’Orignal Chalet abri beginning with FREE classes the 1st week of October. We would like to invite you to try our classes, meet the trainers and sign your family up for our 10-week session.
Most classes welcome babies and/or children but we have reserved our Yoga classes, as well as our Adult / Senior skate for those who would like a more relaxing environment.
Below is our schedule, we also encourage you to visit the class descriptions on www.champlain.ca. Registration is now open and can be completed by phone 613-678-3601, in person Mon – Fri 10-2pm at the VKH Community centre or during the first week of FREE classes.
