The TD Summer Reading Club at the Champlain Library in Vankleek Hill is still going strong. Through books and activities at the library, members of the club have been diving into areas that fascinate them, dabbling into others for new inspiration and discovering that their passions have the potential to transform them, their friends and their world.
A Wrap Up of the Summer Reading Club will take place on Tuesday, August 14 from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon at the Champlain Community Centre and Mill Street Park.
Kids will visit a planetarium and be able to take a “Tour of the Universe” presented by accomplished outdoor stargazer Olivia Longo of the Ontario Planetarium. Come tour the stars, planets, moons, comets, galaxies, meteor showers and the Northern Lights under a mobile astronomy dome.
As well, “Let’s Talk Science Outreach”, an award-winning, national, community-based program will host a workshop with exciting hands-on/minds-on experiences engaging kids in science, technology, engineering and mathematics.
For Summer Reading Club members, prizes will be handed out with the Grand Prize being a Telescope!
It’s not too late to get in on the fun! To participate, kids must be registered in the Summer Reading Club and also be a member of the Champlain Library.
