On Thursday, January 25, 2018, the Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) requested the public’s assistance in locating a vehicle that had been stolen within the town of Hawkesbury. The delivery van, a white Mercedes Sprinter, was stolen at approximately 9:30 a.m. that same morning.

On Saturday, January 27, 2018, the Sûreté du Quebec located the stolen vehicle in Sainte-Anne-des-Lacs. The OPP Forensic Identification Services (FIS) attended Sainte-Anne-des-Lacs to assist with the investigation.

The Hawkesbury OPP Crime Unit investigated and identified a 32-year-old male from Whitby, Ontario. He was located and arrested by members of the South Porcupine OPP Detachment on Friday February 2, 2018 near Iroquois Falls, Ontario.
