Arbor Gallery 2018 Speaker Series presents a discussion on Giving To Charities: Favourite Causes & How to Choose and Plan Ahead, Saturday, February 10, 2018, 7:30 p.m. at Arbor Gallery in Vankleek Hill.
Most people would like to contribute to improving society, but there are so many choices, it is difficult to decide which worthy causes to support and how much is enough. Telemarketers are persistent in calling at mealtimes, and mournful photos of poverty-stricken children tug at one’s heartstrings.
Can a person plan ahead and choose the best method for making donations that matter? How do you avoid being taken advantage of or becoming a target for scammers? These are the subjects for discussion at this Saturday’s Interesting Talks with Interesting People at Arbor Gallery, 36 Home Avenue, in Vankleek Hill.
“We hope people will come with a list of their favourite charities,” says Samme Putzel, organizer of the series.
“We will talk about how to plan ahead so that a person does not have to revisit the question of whom to support every time they receive a new donor request or see a TV ad for a worthy cause.”
The admission fee of $10 includes refreshments provided by Kottage Kuche and proceeds will be donated to the Hawkesbury Hospital Foundation. For more information, call 613-678-2873.
