The Canadienne Sensation Choir is celebrating its 20th anniversary. This choir has always had headquarters in L’Orignal, Ontario. During the course of its 20-year history, hundreds of people, children and adults from our region have been part of this choir during their lifetime.
Its mandate is to allow children and adults in Glengarry-Prescott-Russell to experience strong emotions and unique and memorable opportunities. The Noir Blanc Noël, gave the opportunity to 100 participants of all ages to experience the enjoyment that comes from singing in a choir.
The Canadienne Sensation Choir has been innovative in its genre. Mariette LaFrance is inspired by traditional gospel influences. She even headed to Atlanta to see and hear gospel music. Inspired, The Sensation Choir wanted to share this genre of singing in Eastern Ontario.
The choir’s many successes earned it a Certificate of Honor from Prime Minister Stephen Harper and a nomination at the Prescott-Russell Excellence Gala in 2013.
The choir represented our region for the Red Leaf Dinner at Queen’s Park Legislature in Toronto. Internationally, it was selected from the top 1000 choirs in the world seven consecutive times at the Lotto-Québec World Choir Show, and represented Ontario at the International Expo Fair in Quebec, as well as Canada at the International Blues, Jazz and Gospel Festival in Las Vegas.
The Canadienne Sensation Choir also participated in several activities and events related to Franco-Ontarian pride, in addition to having recorded a few TV shows including The Day of The Lord (radio-canada).
The choir is preparing a special event for its 20th anniversary.
