Thirteen girls and boys, ranging in age from 4 to 11, arrived at Arbor Gallery this past weekend to find long tables covered with inspiring bits of fabric, buttons, feathers, flowers, paint, stickers and more. At the hat-decorating workshop led by Tina Trineer, bins and boxes overflowed with bric a brac waiting to be chosen and incorporated into a hat. Many of the children were accompanied by parents and even grandparents all of whom joined in and assisted in the creative process. If you’d like to see the hats, and the children who made them, be sure to come to the Hat Competition at Our Canadian Heritage Festival on Sunday, May 21 at 10 a.m. on Main Street in Vankleek Hill. For all of those adults who wished they could have made a hat of their own, as well as  those who would like to have attended, stay tuned, the gallery is making plans for a creative hat decorating event “just for adults”  towards the end of June.
