On May 21, Arbor Gallery Cultural Centre, in collaboration with Andy Perreault and Excellent Events, will be displaying 12-18 individually painted posters of trees done by artists in our region. These posters were originally used as part of the peaceful protest organized by Perreault on April 13 to raise awareness of the rapid destruction of forests in and around Vankleek Hill. The beautifully painted images will now be varnished, framed and displayed in two locations for the Our Canadian Heritage Festival. Most will be visible right on Main Street beside the post office, but there will also be some others at Arbor Gallery Cultural Centre. Some of the artists will also be present throughout the day to discuss the various social and personal reasons why they created their posters, and we encourage everyone to stop by, look them over, have a conversation, and perhaps even sign a petition which will also be available.
