On April 26, the Troupe des Non-Coupables will be honoured with the June Callwood Outstanding Achievement Award for Voluntarism in Toronto.
The troupe has put on the play La Dernière Pendaison at the L’Orignal Old Jail for the past six years. Over that time, it has donated all its proceeds—amounting to more than $45,000—to various charities, such as: Maison de la famille, Groupe Action, Community and Social Services Agency, Carefor Health and Community Services, among others.
The troupe is preparing for its seventh season, set to begin in June. The play, written in 1989 by Guy Rouleau and Ian McKechnie, is based on the story of the last two men hanged at the L’Orignal jail in 1933. This year the play will be on the Friday and Saturday evenings of June.
Tickets can be purchased online at www.eventbrite.ca.
