A 22-year-old woman from Gatineau died in a crash on County Road 17 on Wednesday afternoon, police say.
Police arrived on the scene about two kilometres west of Hawkesbury at about 3:42 p.m. on March 1. The woman, who has been identified as Marilie Picard of Gatineau, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Picard had been driving a passenger van which collided with a cube truck travelling in the opposite direction, according to an OPP news release. The other passengers in the van, including a man and two young children, as well as the driver of the truck, were taken to hospital with injuries police described as non life-threatening.
Police say the cause of the crash is still under investigation. The Champlain fire department as well as Prescott-Russell Emergency Services were part of the response. The road was closed between Highway 34 and County Road 4 for about seven hours.
