Last weekend, the Vankleek Hill Collegiate Institute girls curling team won the provincial consolation finals at the Gore Mutual Provincial Curling Championship in Perth.

It was the first time the VCI boys and girls teams qualified for the provincial event.

At the gala event that took place on Friday, February 17, Cassie Allen, the team’s skip, won the Gore Mutual Academic and Community Service Award of Excellence. Kyla Baranowski, lead, won the Second Team All-Stars Lead Award.

Another win

A few days later, on February 21, the girls team won the Prescott-Russell Secondary Schools Athletic Association’s curling tournament at the Vankleek Hill Curling Club.

The team will be representing Prescott-Russell in Kingston next Wednesday, March 1, at the Eastern Ontario Secondary Schools Athletic Association Championship.
