After a year of construction and an investment of more than $5 million, the new Lachute community pool is finally completed. The pool will be inaugurated on December 17, during an open-house celebration that will take place between 10 a.m. and 3 p.m.
The indoor pool is located in a shared space between the Laurentian Regional High School and the Polyvalent Lavigne High School, in Lachute. The cost to replace the original pool, which was installed in 1979, was shared by the Sir Wilfrid Laurier School Board, the Rivière du Nord School Board, the Municipal Regional Council (MRC) of Argenteuil and the City of Lachute.
Students from both high schools regularly use the pool for swim classes. It is also used by surrounding elementary schools and is open to the public for open swimming and for aquatic classes.
In addition to gutting the site and replacing the pool, contractors also fully remodeled the changing rooms, updated the water filtration system and installed a new ambient air monitoring system, which controls the temperature and humidity levels.
The pool will reopen to the public for swimming on December 18 at 10:30 a.m. In celebration of the reopening free swimming will be offered to Argenteuil residents between December 18 and January 6. Aquatic fitness classes will resume on January 14.

The pool is located at 452 Argenteuil Avenue, in Lachute. Parking is at the rear of the school.
