This past weekend OPP officers from the Stormont, Dundas and Glengarry (SD&G) detachment charged three drivers for speeding more than 50 kilometers per hour above the posted speed limit.
On November 11, at about 7:40 a.m., police stopped a vehicle that they say was travelling at about 147 kilometres per hour on Country Road 34. The posted speed limit in that area is 80 kilometres per hour. A 24-year-old man from South Stormont was charged. Shortly before 4 p.m. on the same day, police stopped a vehicle that was allegedly going 151 kilometres per hour in a 100 kilometre per hour zone on Highway 401, in South Glengarry. A 71-year-old male from Don Mills was charged. On November 13, at 12:15 a.m. a 29-year-old male was stopped by police on Highway 401, near South Glengarry. Police say he was travelling at speeds in excess of 150 kilometres per hour, in a 100 kilometre per hour zone.
All three drivers were suspended from driving for a week and their vehicles were impounded.
