The Opportunity Knox Refugee Sponsorship Group would like to thank everyone involved in our “A Taste of Syria” Gala Event last week. What a tremendous outpouring of support! Thanks goes out to all the corporate sponsors who supported the evening, those who purchased tickets and silent auction items, and all the individuals who generously donated those items to our silent auction. In addition, a special thanks to The Review and Louise Sproule for all the donated advertising and printing as well as the continued support and promotion of our refugee sponsorship endeavors. Thanks very much to the Vankleek Hill Curling Club for providing the perfect venue for the event. “Yasmine Food From the Heart” catering and “Alkadour Sweets” provided delicious, authentic Syrian food for our guests. Our evening together was a great success, and we raised $13 387 towards our next sponsorship! It is always heartwarming to see what a kind and generous community we live in! No doubt our newcomer family will feel welcomed and safe when they arrive. Their arrival date is not confirmed but we are quite sure it will be very soon!
