Hume, David

David lived an adventurous life that took him around the world on amazing journeys, as well as through his love of books, stories, and curious conversations. Born in 1958, he grew up in the Laurentians, where he revelled in the wonder of the forests, the thrill of riding his dirt bike, and the joy of early childhood friendships. Shaped by the world events of the 60s and 70s, he developed his lifelong passion for history and geography. He moved to Montréal during a time of great cultural change, worked very hard, earning his MLIS, and built an impressive career in e-commerce. Later, he settled in Eastern Ontario with his wife of 25 years, where they welcomed his most cherished person in the world—his beloved daughter, whom he loved with pure, unwavering intensity, stepping into fatherhood soon after mourning his own beloved father. Those close to him treasured his wealth of stories, both funny and endearing, and his courage, kindness, and fierce loyalty. He always rooted for the underdogs, for he was one, having thrived despite the odds – just like his favourite show, Star Trek, which instilled hope for the survival of humanity. To love David was to embrace all of him: his quirks, his uniqueness, his extraordinary memory, his raw emotions, and his resilience to survive in a society built for others.
