In loving memory of Kathy who passed away peacefully on October 31st, 2023. Beloved wife of Ross Cole (decd. 2017). Dear mother of Ronald (Elise) and Brian (Kate), grandmother of Douglas, James, Jasmine and Noah. She also leaves behind, her sister Gwen, her nieces and nephew and numerous friends. Kathy graduated from the Montréal General Hospital School of Nursing in 1959. She married Ross in 1961 and they moved to the Laurentians where he was the ski school director at Ayers Ski Centre. Skiing went on to be a large part of her family’s life. She was an operating & emergency room nurse at the Lachute hospital, and in the late 1970s became one of the the first local nurses to do the new home care service; she valiantly drove her station wagon through all weather and remote roads to serve her patients. She retired from nursing in 1992. Nursing was true to her nature as she was kind, caring and compelled to serve. She was a good friend and acquaintance to many whom appreciated that she was a good-listener, calm, wise and non-judgmental. Beyond supporting her husband in his many endeavours, she was a devoted mother to her sons. Year-round, she enjoyed living independently at her lakeside home. She loved the lake, all seasons, flowers, birds, the moon, skiing, gardening, cooking, reading, traveling and bad jokes & puns. She particularly liked fussing over people, hosting guests and taking care of everyone, yet she did not want to be fussed over, never wanting to worry anyone. If the measure of a life is the amount of souls that you have aided, healed or simply made to feel better by your presence, then we say, mom, you succeeded at life’s ultimate goal. A service will be held on December 2nd, 2023 at 10 a.m. at the Holy Trinity Church, 4 Chem. Cambria, Gore, QC, followed by an informal reception at the community hall. Funeral arrangements entrusted to Salon Roland Ménard Inc., 395 Grace Street, Lachute QC J8H 1M3.
