Peacefully at her home with her family by her side on Friday, February 24, 2023, Barbara Barton (nee Allen) of Vankleek Hill passed away at the age of 81. Predeceased by her parents Harrison Allen and Janet Mooney. Loving wife and best friend of 60 years to Allen Barton. Caring and devoted mother of Faye Allen (Scott), Jeff (Brenda), the late Donnie (Cheri), Jamie (Valerie) and Allison Versteeg (Leo). Proud grandma of Chris (Amélie), Katie (Matt), the late Garett, Becky, Olivia (Connor), Dara (Kyle), Allistair (Teri-Ann), Sean (Hannah), Laura (Adrian), Amber (Riley), Keegan (Eve), Brittani (Brynn), Ashton (Mitch), Erika (Colin), Cailyn and Wyatt. Great grandmother of Anna, Carter, Russell, Eva, Oliver, Thomas, Luka, and Grant. Dear sister of Shirley McIlwain (the late Harold) and David Allen (Margaret). Predeceased by her sisters Ruth Fraser (David) and Nancy McNabb. Fond sister-in-law of Ruth Barton. Fondly remembered by her 13 nieces and nephews, 25 grandnieces and grandnephews. Barbara loved her family and she especially enjoyed cooking for many large family gatherings. She was a devoted friend and caregiver to many seniors over the years and enjoyed the time she worked at the Heritage Lodge in Vankleek Hill. Barbara was a lifetime member of the Trinity UCW and a member of Cassburn Women’s Institute. Relatives and friends may visit on Thursday, March 2, 2023 from 1 to 4 pm and 6 to 9 pm. Funeral Service will be held on Friday, March 3, 2023, at 11 am at the Trinity United Church, 14 Mill Street, Vankleek Hill. (Parking available at the Vankleek Hill Community Centre, 36 Mill Street).
