Asbil, Peter

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Peter on September 8 th , 2024 in Ottawa at 82 years of age. Peter passed away peacefully at the Ottawa Civic Hospital surrounded by family and much love. Peter was born September 7, 1942 in Rawdon, Québec. After working in the bank initially, he was ordained an Anglican priest in 1967 and served in many parishes in the Yukon, Saskatchewan and around Québec. In 2005, Peter retired to Harrington to a little piece of paradise on Keatley Lake, until 14 years later when health issues necessitated a move to Hawkesbury in September 2019. His gift of faith in a loving God and empathy for others drew people to him as he humbly gave of himself. He was much loved and will be deeply missed. The family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care received from the Paramedics, Ornge Air Ambulance teams, Hawkesbury Hospital, Cornwall Hospital and Ottawa Civic Hospital. Peter is survived by his wife Doreen of 57 years and three children: Joy (Andy), Bruce (Tracie), and Heather and three grandchildren: Alyssa, Justin, and Markus. He is predeceased by his brother Stanley and his parents Gladys and Willy Asbil. The family will receive relatives and friends at the Desforges Funeral Home, 188 Principale Street, Grenville, QC.
