Immersive Indigenous Culture Day

Ma-Kwa-Hingan, l’Écho des Bois and Elder Archie Martin & wife Pierrette, and other Indigenous Nations representatives and participants.
Ma-Kwa-Hingan was born from a dream! Both Métis, they tell us about their Abenaki, Haudenosaunee, Algonquian, and French ancestral roots. They take us back in time to let us discover the Métis People of the East, their way of life, their spirituality, the fauna, the flora, and the traditional medicine of the time. A
historical animation filled with tales and legends, musical traditions, making of ancestral objects, tepee, furs, and artefacts.
In this time of truth and reconciliation and active allies within Indigenous communities, Carole and her spouse live their cultures daily. They are guardians of a ceremonial ground and Carole is a facilitator for the blanket exercise. Joining forces with their Elders Archie Martin and wife, Pierrette to share a day of ancestral knowledge and traditions about their Eastern Metis Indigenous and French roots.
On site, visitors will learn historical facts about the true contribution of Indigenous people to life before and after the arrival of English and French colonists. They will also be introduced to several ancestral day- to-day activities, from canoe building, fur trading and voyageurs influences.
