To the Editor,

On Earth Day late into the night, we listened for owls in the moonlit calm of Larose Forest. Ten owls called, solo or in duet, magic in the silent darkness.

Earth Day is always emotional. Some years, I feel safe in the embrace of nature and community. Some years it spurs ambition. This year was different. The owls were a gift and the bookend to anger. Two gifts really.
