The Québec Ministère des transports et de la mobilité durable (MTMD) was making repairs to a crucial bridge in Brownsburg on Tuesday, January 20 and Wednesday, January 21.
On December 29, 2025, the MTMD closed the Pont Alexander-McGibbon bridge on rue des Érables to all traffic after municipal staff had found a hole in the structure and that pieces of concrete had fallen into Rivière de l’Ouest underneath. On December 30, 2025, the MTMD announced that the bridge would be open to traffic, but with a reduction to one lane. Two-way traffic was being controlled by stop signs at each end of the bridge.
On Monday, January 19, the MTMD announced that repairs would be made during the following two days. Following these repairs, traffic will be restored to two lanes, one in each direction. However, further repairs will be necessary in the near future. The MTMD will notify the public before any further closures and repairs.
During the closure of the Pont Alexander-McGibbon bridge, traffic is to follow a detour via rue Saint-Joseph and rue Principale, using the temporary bridge installed over the Pont Henri-Raby Bridge.
