On Monday, September 8, Township of East Hawkesbury council received a report outlining the Parc Augustin Larocque refurbishment project’s progress. As of September 5, just over $62,000 has been spent on the Chute-à-Blondeau park’s renovations.
Chief Building Official and By-law Officer Jessy Hoffman said that the largest expenses were excavation ($16,800), constructing the 2,800-square-foot multi-sport concrete slab ($26,000), and gravel aggregate ($6,150), with additional costs for the 192-square-foot gazebo slab, transport, and materials.

According to the council report, work completed so far has included the demolition of the old skating rink and unsafe play structures, removal of a buried water tank, repainting and repairing bleachers and benches, and installing new concrete foundations for the gazebo and multi-sport surface.
The project is expected to wrap up by the end of September, in time for residents to enjoy the refurbished park this fall.
