The Rev. Father Jean Bernard Lapointe has made a $3,300 contribution to the Prescott-Russell Residence Foundation. The foundation has been raising funds to purchase lifts to make it easier for residents of the new facility in Hawkesbury to be moved in and out of bed.
Father Lapointe was ordained a priest in 1963 at Notre-Dame Cathedral Basilica in Ottawa. He served as a vicar in several Ottawa parishes in his early years and then as assistant priest and pastor at other parishes. That service included about 15 years at the former Paroisse de l’Ascension in Hawkesbury and Paroisse de la Très Sainte-Trinité in Rockland.
Father Lapointe also was a chaplain for the Knights of Columbus and served for five years as pastor in a parish in the Sao Paulo region of Brazil.
As the Prescott-Russell Residence Foundation approaches the very last phase of its fundraising campaign, it invites the community to continue to show its support. The goal of the campaign is $1 million.
