There was solidarity along the Seaway on Saturday, July 5.
Four days after Canadians celebrated Canada Day, and one day after Americans celebrated Independence Day, Elbows Up rallies were held in communities along the Canada-US border between New York State, Ontario, and Québec.
The rallies were held by Americans wanting to support and respect Canada following the current economic and political difficulties resulting from trade tariffs and repeated suggestions that Canada become part of the United States from the administration in Washington.
The Elbows Up events on July 5 were presented as being “For Canada. For America. For democracy.” The intention of the demonstrations was to put politics aside and continue to show friendship between Canadians and Americans.
Along the St. Lawrence River, rallies were held in Ogdensburg NY, Prescott Ontario, and Fort Covington NY.
