A 16-year-old is facing a series of charges after police recovered a stolen vehicle on Highway 417 in East Hawkesbury.

On Thursday, November 28 just after 5 am, officers from the Hawkesbury OPP Detachment attempted to stop a stolen vehicle traveling eastbound on Highway 417. The driver refused to comply, so police used a tire deflation device to stop the vehicle at kilometre marker 3.

As 16-year-old female from Montréal was arrested and charged with the following offences under the Criminal Code of Canada and Highway Traffic Act (her identity is protected under the Youth Criminal Justice Act):

  • Possessing property obtained by crime over $5000 – in Canada
  • Theft of motor vehicle
  • Flight from peace officer
  • Drive motor vehicle – no licence

The youth was released from custody and is scheduled to appear in court on December 12, 2024 in L’Orignal.
