Hawkesbury firefighters, and at least one town councillor were set up on John Street downtown on Labour Day, September 2. The annual boot drive collected funds for muscular dystrophy treatment and research.
Drivers had the option of stopping and placing a cash donation into a rubber boot.
Heavy holiday weekend traffic ensured there was lots of opportunities for the firefighters to raise funds to help those with the disease, which leads to gradual decline of muscle tissue.
