Reconstruction of a second section of Chemin de la Carrière in Brownsburg-Chatham is a step closer to happening.

The road travels north from the village of Brownsburg to Lac en Croissant.

On March 5, Brownsburg-Chatham council approved a regulation authorizing $1,262,335 to be spent on the project, which is part of this year’s capital budget.

The notice of motion for the regulation had first been introduced at the February council meeting. Adoption of the regulation allows the town to proceed with the call for offers from contractors to do the work on the road.

Mayor Kevin Maurice said the first section of Chemin de la Carrière was reconstructed in 2023 and was funded partly with a grant from the Québec government. He recalled that Québec Minister of Transport Geneviève Guilbault made an announcement in Harrington on March 1 for local roads funding for Argenteuil. Brownsburg-Chatham is receiving $912,049 from the announcement for the section of Chemin de la Carrière to be reconstructed in 2024.

“This is very appreciated by the residents. We promised it to the residents,” Maurice said.

“We worked hard to get another grant for the second section,” he added.

Maurice said the reconstruction of the section of Chemin de la Carrière will be finished late in the summer of 2024.
