Lachute City Council met on September 6, ,with Councillor Hugo Lajoie chairing the meeting as Supplementary Mayor. Mayor Bernard Bigras-Denis could not attend the meeting due to an “unexpected absence” Lajoie said.

Council approved a contract valued at $142,155, including taxes for professional services, to install a new network of underground services in the Synercité business park. The motion to approve the contract was moved by Councillor Guylaine Cyr-Desforges and seconded by Councillor Aline Gravel.

An approval was given by council to make up to $200,000 to cover the cost of well pump rehabilitation work at the municipality’s wells, which are the source of Lachute’s water supply. Any unused funds from the work will be returned to the operations account.

The estimated cost of the well pump rehabilitation is $153,210, taxes included. The work is being done by the firm of R.J. Lévesque of Trois-Rivières. Gravel moved the recommendation to authorize the $200,000 and the motion was seconded by Councillor Virginie Filiatrault.

Lachute Council has awarded the contract for engineering services associated with the planned resurfacing of rue Gagné and rue Corbeil to EFEL Experts-Conseils of Terrebonne. The contract includes an expense of $35,000, taxes included, to prepare estimates for the project and a call for tenders. An expense of $54,000 will cover the costs associated with work supervision and management of the contract once a firm is selected to carry out the work on the streets.
