Grenville-sur-la-Rouge Council approved the purchase of three educational radar speed signs on Tuesday, October 13, awarding the contract to Martech Signalisation Inc. The signs will cost $13,075.50, plus applicable taxes, and will be covered by the municipality’s surplus budget.

Mayor Tom Arnold said the signs would be installed at Pointe-au-Chêne on Route 148 and on Chemin Avoca. Arnold indicated that the Route 148 installation would address traffic approaching Pointe-au-Chêne from the eastbound and westbound directions, although the precise placement of the signs was not specified.

The municipality received quotes from several suppliers for the signs, which are intended to encourage motorists to monitor their speed. Martech quoted $13,075.50, compared with $15,784 from Élite Innovation, and $18,801.06 and $19,606.06 from Kalitec. The report to council noted that Goliax did not offer the product.

Council unanimously approved the contract without further discussion.
