This year’s Ontario Public Library Week theme is Loud for Libraries. It’s an invitation to celebrate our public libraries, share what they mean to us, and make some noise about the important role they play in our communities.
Libraries are more than books. They’re places where children discover the joy of reading, neighbours meet and connect, people learn something new, and everyone is welcome. From Storytimes and after-school activities to book clubs, talks, crafts, technology and community events, there’s always something happening at the library.
As part of Ontario Public Library Week, the Champlain Library will be celebrating our patrons with a Patron Appreciation Day on Thursday, October 22. Stop by for some early Halloween treats and try our Spin & Win Prize Wheel for a chance to win prizes, including a book light, beach ball and even a free book from our used book collection.
All week long, we’ll also be creating a Library Word Wall and we want you to be part of it. When you visit, write down one word that you think of when you think of the library and add it to our wall. We’re looking forward to seeing what the library means to our community.
Being loud for libraries can be as simple as using yours and telling others about it. Borrow a book. Attend a program. Download an audiobook. Tell a friend about a service they might not know about.
Every visit, every library card and every voice helps show that the library matters to our community. This Ontario Public Library Week, be loud for libraries! Visit us, share your word and help spread the word.
