MacEwen Petroleum and MacEwen Agricentre are making a major investment in rural healthcare with a $100,000 pledge over two years to Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Made through Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital (HGMH) Foundation’s Business Steps Up program, the commitment will support the $3.5-million campaign to bring an onsite CT scanner to HGMH.

For Jim and Allan MacEwen, the pledge continues a longstanding tradition of supporting causes that strengthen the communities where they live and do business. For HGMH Foundation, it represents one of the most significant commitments to Business Steps Up to date and a strong vote of confidence in the future of rural healthcare.

“This is a momentous commitment for our Foundation and for our hospital,” “We are incredibly grateful to Jim and Allan MacEwen. They have supported healthcare and so many important community causes over the years, and their continued generosity has made them true pillars of this community. Their leadership is a powerful example of what it means to invest in the place you call home,” said Mark Adam, Chair of Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Currently, patients who require a CT scan must travel or be transferred to another hospital, with the nearest CT services approximately 40 kilometres or more from Alexandria. An onsite CT scanner will give HGMH physicians access to important diagnostic imaging directly at the hospital and expand the range of care that can be provided locally.

The MacEwen pledge will be completed over two years, providing significant momentum as the Foundation works toward its $3.5-million campaign goal.

Hôpital Glengarry Memorial Hospital Foundation continues to advance the CT scanner campaign with the support of individuals, families, businesses and community organizations from across the region. Every commitment brings HGMH closer to providing CT imaging locally and strengthening the hospital’s capacity to care for patients in our rural community.
