In North Glengarry, the positions of mayor, deputy mayor, and three councillor seats are being contested.
Two council positions have already been decided by acclamation.
Incumbent Mayor Jamie MacDonald is facing four challengers in the race for mayor: Cody Pierce, Michel Levert, Victor Brassard, and Josée Jeaurond.
The deputy mayor’s race features four candidates: incumbent Carma Williams, Julie Kaswurm, Elizabeth Caddell, and Krista Williams.
Caddell had originally filed to run for councillor in Ward 1 – Lochiel, but withdrew and instead filed to run for deputy mayor.
Ward 1 – Lochiel has a three-way race, with Brenda Noble, Sue Bradley, and Kayla Montpetit seeking the seat.
Ward 3 – Alexandria is a two-way race between incumbent Michael Madden and Mark Talbot.
Ward 4 – Maxville is a two-way race between incumbent Gary Martin and Rachel Marleau.
Michel Cuerrier has been acclaimed councillor at large after being the only certified candidate for the position. Incumbent Jeff Manley, meanwhile, has been acclaimed for Ward 2 – Kenyon after being the sole certified candidate.
