Sainte-Anne Park in Sainte-Anne-de-Prescott could eventually make way for residential development after East Hawkesbury Council declared the municipal property surplus to its needs on Monday, August 10.
The approximately 2.47-acre property was previously used as a municipal park and is located at 8160 County Road 14.
The Township has now changed the zoning of the land to allow residential use, changing it from Open Space to Residential Type 1.
The change does not mean residential development is immediately planned for the property, but it opens the door to the land potentially being sold and developed. The property could also be developed using private wells and septic systems, following a related change to the planning designation for Sainte-Anne-de-Prescott and St-Eugène.
Council unanimously supported the rezoning without discussion.
