During the week of July 27 to 31, Knox Presbyterian Church in Vankleek Hill hosted Rainforest Falls Vacation Bible School (VBS). There were 74 children and 30 leaders and helpers playing games, creating amazing crafts, singing cool Bible songs, enjoying yummy snacks, hearing incredible Bible stories and discovering the nature of God.
A mission emphasis included in the VBS program encouraged the children to bring an offering each day. This year we chose to support CHEO’s new initiative the Young Grievers Camp at the Roger Neilson Children’s Hospice for young grievers aged seven to 17 who have experienced the death of someone close to them.
Sophie Demers from CHEO was presented with a cheque by Rosemary Knox, VBS treasurer and Karin Mode VBS Director for $2,200; but with the help of more generous hearts in the community and church family the amount was increased to $3,000 after the event. This was matched by Dave Godmere and Brenda Godmere to bring the total to $6000. for the Young Grievers Camp. Praise God! A BIG thank-you to all who participated!
