The Hawkesbury Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) has arrested one person following the recovery of a stolen vehicle in Hawkesbury.
On Tuesday, July 27, 2026, just after 9 am, officers used a tire deflation device to stop a stolen vehicle after the driver failed to stop for police.
As a result of the investigation, Frederik Samson, 28 years old of Laval, has been charged with the following offences.
· Theft of motor vehicle
· Mischief over $5,000
· Flight from peace officer
· Dangerous operation
· Possession property obtained by crime over $5,000
· Failure to comply with release order – other than to attend court
· Fail to comply with probation order, four counts
· Possession of device for purpose of committing theft
· Possession break in instruments
· Possession of weapon for dangerous purpose
· Red light – fail to stop – community safety zone
· Attempt to pass – roadway not clear – approaching traffic – community safety zone
· Drive wrong way – one way traffic – community safety zone
· Drive wrong way – divided highway – community safety zone
· Drive motor vehicle – no licence
The accused remains in custody and was scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on Monday, July 27, 2026, for a bail hearing.
