The Macdonell-Williamson House National Historic Site near Pointe-Fortune was open for the first time of its 2026 season on Saturday, July 4 and Sunday, July 5.
The Arts and Crafts Fair on Saturday was the first of the series of Heritage Festival Weekends planned for the site during the 2026 season. Artists from around the area were displaying and selling their work.
Renovations to the historic home are taking place this summer under the guidance of the Ontario Heritage Trust which owns the property. The usual tearoom has relocated outdoors with a stand for the summer season, allowing visitors to enjoy their tea with the spectacular view of the Ottawa River.
The friends of the Macdonell-Williamson House operate the historic home as a museum each Saturday and Sunday during July and August from 11 am to 4 pm. For the complete schedule of Heritage Festival Weekend events, go to https://mw-house.ca.
