Fire, forges, steel, and anvils were the tools of the trade being used on Saturday, June 20 during the annual Smith-In at the Glengarry Pioneer Museum
The museum’s own Hamelin Blacksmith Shop was open, giving a truly authentic example of the trade in decades past. Several other blacksmiths with portable forges were working underneath the large shelter on the museum grounds. The Hamelin forge and some of the portable forges are fired by coal while some blacksmiths were using portable, propane forges.
This was the 10th year for the Smith-In at the Glengarry Pioneer Museum.
