The temperature was just right, and the rain held off during the morning of Saturday, June 20 for the 12th edition of the Beau’s 5K for Ovarian Cancer in Vankleek Hill.
More than 300 people were registered for this year’s run and organizers said more than $40,000 had been raised for Ovarian Cancer Canada as of Saturday.
The Beau’s 5K began in memory of Ashley Courtois (Cowan) of Vankleek Hill who died of ovarian cancer at age 33 in 2018 after more than three years with the disease. Her parents, Karen and James Cowan, sister Shanna Delorme, and brother Chris Cowan continue to be involved with the Beau’s 5K as organizers and participants.
