About 50 kilometres of municipal roads among five municipalities in the United Counties of Stormont, Dundas, and Glengarry (SDG), and one neighbouring municipality will be resurfaced in the months ahead.

On May 19, SDG Counties’ Council awarded the resurfacing contract to Cornwall Gravel Company Ltd. for $4,598,469.86 plus sales tax. The Cornwall Gravel tender was the lowest of three received by the counties. The contract is jointly administered by SDG Counties and its six municipalities. The cost to North Glengarry is $515,780, and the cost to South Glengarry is $592,784.36. The remaining cost has been divided according to the amount of road resurfacing planned in SDG’s three other municipalities except for North Stormont. Some of the cost of the contract is also being paid for by the Township of Edwardsburg-Cardinal in Leeds and Grenville. That municipality borders SDG to the southwest and road and bridge work being done along the boundary.
