The new accessibility ramp and lift at St. Finnan’s Basilica in Alexandria has been open for about a month, but efforts to complete the fundraising campaign continue.
As of Friday, May 1, $175,000 towards the $250,000 goal had been raised.
Recently, the St. Finnan’s Council of The Catholic Women’s League (CWL) donated $1,000 towards the Basilica’s Accessibility Project, funded from food service proceeds at the February K of C/CWL Curling Bonspiel. St. Finnan’s CWL tangibly supported greater accessibility to the church long before shovels were in the ground, donating $1,000 toward the project in 2023 and $500 in 2024. CWL Service Chair Hazel MacDonald, who organized the kitchen volunteers for the bonspiel, presented the cheque to Father Steven Gaudet while other members looked on.
