The Town of Hawkesbury has released its 2025 remuneration report for council members, providing a detailed look at how council members are compensated, including base salaries, additional allowances, and earnings from participation on boards and committees. The report was received by council when it met on Monday, March 9.

In total, the seven members of Hawkesbury Council earned $211,490.93 in 2025, including base salaries, standard allowances, and income from board and committee participation. The report offers transparency on how municipal leaders supplement their earnings through additional duties and service on boards such as the Police Services Board, Library Board, and Minor Variance Committee. Mayor Robert Lefebvre received a base salary of $52,004.63. In addition to his base salary, he earned $480 for telephone expenses. His role on the Police Services Board brought in an additional $1,850, resulting in a total compensation of $54,334.63.

Councillor Jeanne Charlebois earned a base salary of $24,205.63, plus $480 telephone expenses. She did not receive additional board-related income, bringing her total to $24,685.63.

Councillor André Chamaillard received a base salary of $24,205.63 with an additional $480 for telephone expenses. His work on the Hydro Board added $2,000, for a total compensation of $26,685.63.

Councillor Antonios Tsourounakis, who serves on council committees and various boards such as the Business Improvement Area Board and the recycling committee, earned a base salary of $24,205.63, along with an additional $480 for telephone expenses, totaling $24,685.63.

Councillor Yves Paquette earned a base salary of $24,205.63 and an additional $480 for telephone expenses. With an additional $2,000 from the Hydro Board, his total compensation reached $26,685.63.

Councillor Raymond Campbell received a base salary of $24,205.63, plus an additional $480 for telephone expenses, and $2,000 from the Hydro Board, his total compensation was $26,685.63.

Councillor Julie Séguin received a base salary of $21,780.50. Her add-ons included $536.11 for travel and expenses, $2,968.50 for convention, and $443.04 for telephone expenses, totaling $3,947.65. With an additional $2,000 earned through serving on the Library Committee, her total compensation reached $27,728.15.

Séguin said she appreciated the amount of transparency shown in the remuneration report which included a separate column for remuneration for conference fees. Séguin said she appreciates the full disclosure because may personally pay for their conference registration and accommodation and then submit a claim for reimbursement that includes those costs, along with mileage, transportation, and daily amount. In other situations, the town may purchase conference tickets directly, particularly in cases of group registration and the councilor would then only claim the remaining eligible expenses.
