The annual Terry Fox Run returned to Alexandria, raising $9,909 for cancer research in honour of the late Canadian athlete and humanitarian. The event began at the Island Park Gazebo and had participants walk or run along the Glengarry Trails. This year’s run marked the 45th anniversary of Fox’s 1980 Marathon of Hope.
Organized by Anne Thevenot and a dedicated team of volunteers, the event was supported by the Friends of the Glengarry Trails Association, who supervised and provided water along the route.

More than 70 individuals participated in the run.
Participants then celebrated with a picnic around noon upon completing the course.
Terry Fox passed away from osteosarcoma in 1981, at the age of 22. The annual event typically occurs in September and honours the legacy and courage of Fox.
All funds raised go directly to cancer prevention, detection, and treatment at leading hospitals and research centres across the country.
Terry Fox Run events were also held in Chute-à-Blondeau and Russell Township on Sunday, September 14.
