Arbor Gallery presents Passions and Inspirations, a new exhibition highlighting the oil paintings of Heather Markgraf Lowe of Hudson. Her landscapes and portraits, inspired by the natural beauty of her surroundings and the warmth of family connections, invite viewers to pause and appreciate both outer appearance and inner spirit.

Markgraf Lowe began painting in 2020 after taking a course with Mona Turner just before the pandemic. The quiet gave her time to explore colour, light, and form, while walks through local parks and along nearby beaches provided inspiration for many early canvases. More recently, she has expanded her practice through studies with Judy Taylor in Maine, focusing on portraiture and life drawing. Her work balances realism with emotional presence, capturing both likeness and personality. Visitors will be able to chat with her at her vernissage, Sunday, August 31, from 1pm to 3pm.

Also featured in members space Arber room, are Wendy A. Thomas, a Montréal-based artist whose work has appeared in exhibitions across Québec and Ontario, and Hélène Roy, originally from Hearst and now based in Lefaivre, who paints on diverse surfaces ranging from barnboard to wooden rounds, moving between semi-realism and abstraction.

The exhibitions run from August 28 to September 21, 2025. End of Summer Hours: Starting September 4, Arbor Gallery opening hours change to Thursday to Sunday, noon to 4pm.
