A char-broiled charity event is coming to the Windsor Tavern in Vankleek Hill on Friday, September 12.
A Charity Steak Night for the Kidney Foundation takes place at the tavern that evening from 5 pm until 8 pm. The event is being organized by Don Dubois of Vankleek Hill, who has organized fundraising events for many charities over many years. Dubois said he decided to organize a fundraiser for the Kidney Foundation this time because a member of his family is awaiting a kidney transplant after being on dialysis for the past three years.
“It’s a difficult situation,” Dubois said.
Representatives from the Kidney Foundation will be at the event on September 12 to provide information about kidney disease, how it affects patients, and what the foundation does to help assist patients and support medical research.
Dubois said they also want to educate people about kidney disease at the event. He noted that 60,000 people across Canada are living with kidney diseases of some form.
After enjoying a steak dinner, guests at the Charity Steak Night can also enjoy music by 50 Proof from 8 pm until midnight.
Tickets for the Charity Steak Night for the Kidney Foundation cost $22.50 per person, which is payable on the night of the event. To reserve, call the Windsor Tavern after 2 pm on any day at 613-678-2122.
