Two people are facing drug trafficking charges after the seizure of illegal drugs in Hawkesbury.

Members of the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) East Region Community Street Crime Unit (CSCU) began an investigation earlier this year into drug trafficking in the area.

On Thursday, July 10, members of the Community Street Crime Unit, assisted by the OPP Canine Unit, executed a search warrant at a residence on Higginson Street in Hawkesbury. Two people were arrested at the scene.

Officers seized suspected cocaine, suspected methamphetamine, suspected hydromorphone pills, and an unknown opioid powder. They also seized nearly $1,700 in cash and items typically associated with drug trafficking.

Richard Gorry, age 60 and Alexandre Portelance, age 33, both of Hawkesbury, have been charged with:

  • Traffic in a Schedule 1 substance – four counts
  • Possession of proceeds of property obtained by crime under $5,000

The accused were released from custody and are scheduled to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice in L’Orignal on August 20, 2025.

The investigation is continuing.
