Aircraft of various shapes and sizes landed at the Hawkesbury Flying Club on Saturday, July 5.
The club held its monthly fly-in breakfast at the Hawkesbury Aerodrome, located on Highway 17 east of Hawkesbury. According to club President Jacques des Becquets, about 23 aircraft flew in for the July 5 breakfast, including two Robinson R-44 helicopters and a WWII-era Boeing Stearman biplane.
“As a bonus, members of the nearby Montréal RC Club put on an exhibit of radio-controlled aircraft. These proved popular with everyone, whether pilots, visitors or children,” des Becquets said.
At the breakfasts, aerodrome owner Jim Ouellet, his girlfriend Claire and his mother usually cook the food for visitors.
“Our flying club has been in existence for over 50 years, and we take pride in greeting pilots and aviation nuts, no matter what they fly or their aviation background,” said des Becquets.
The Hawkesbury Flying Club’s next breakfast will be held on August 2 and will be closely followed by its annual corn roast on Sunday, August 10.
