Two people were arrested after contraband cannabis and cigarettes were seized by police in Lachute on Monday, June 23.
Sûreté du Québec officers conducted a search of a home on rue des Bouleaux and found an unspecified quantity of illicit cannabis and contraband cigarettes.
A 45-year-old man and a 37-year-old woman were arrested at the scene and later released. They will appear in court at a later date and could face charges related to illicit cannabis and offenses under the Tax and Tobacco Act.
The operation stems from an investigation initiated following information received from the public.
