A class of young writers and publishers visited The Review office in Vankleek Hill on Thursday, June 12 to find out how The Review is put together for readers each week.
The Kindergarten and Grade 1 class from Pleasant Corners Public School, led by teachers Stacy Schwendemann and Kim Noble learned about news gathering, advertising, subscriptions, and production from the staff. Administrative Coordinator Alison Laliberté told the students a newspaper subscription is just like receiving a magazine like Owl in the mail. Production Coordinator Dorothy Hodge shared with the students about how pages are assembled with the proper graphics, art, and placement of content. Publisher James Morgan told the students The Review is a story of what happens in the community each week and showed them an edition of The Review from exactly 50 years before on Wednesday, June 11, 1975.
During the year, the class had written and published two books with proceeds going to CHEO and the Ronald McDonald House.
