A Lachute resident has received the Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers.
Hélène Pagé-Riddell received the award from Governor-General Mary Simon in Ottawa on April 30. Lachute city council adopted a resolution recognizing her achievement on June 2.
The medal recognizes the exceptional volunteer achievements of Canadians in a wide range of fields and pays tribute to the dedication and commitment of volunteers.
For more than two decades, Pagé-Riddell has played an important role as a palliative care volunteer with patients at Hawkesbury General Hospital and the Centre multiservices de santé et de services sociales d’Argenteuil hospital in Lachute.
At the June 2 council meeting, Lachute Mayor Bernard Bigras-Denis remarked on Pagé-Riddell’s continued, consistent presence at the hospital for people near the end of their lives.
